One of the best defenders to ever play Premier League. This is a very rare matchworn Manchester City shirt from City captain and legend Vincent Kompany. The shirt was worn in the pre-season Tour of China 2015/16 and has a rare Chinese printed sponsor specifically printed for the Tour of China.
Vincent Kompany arrived in Manchester in 2008 from Hamburg. This was the same year that Manchester City were taken over by investors from the UAE. This would enable them to compete at the very top.
The first couple of years of Komany’s time at City weren’t overly successful, but things began to pick, when City finished 3rd in the 2010/11 season. Since then they have won six Premier League titles, and during the last 11 seasons, they have only finished outside the top two twice.
Kompany is natural born leader and had already captained City several times before he was formally made captain ahead of the 2011/12 season. He registered 360 appearances in the sky-blue shirt and scored 20 goals – many of them through his great heading abilities.
During his time in Manchester Kompany won the Premier League four times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup four times, and the Community Shield twice. He left Manchester City in 2019 for a role as player-manager with his boyhood club Anderlecht.
Kompany is one of the greatest ever Belgian players in the Premier League. Since he arrived others such as Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Divock Origi would follow.
