Dario Marcolin #4 vs Deportivo La Coruna Tournament 1998
A seasonal special yellow away Lazio shirt worn by Dario Marcolin #4 vs Deportivo La Coruna from the final of Trofeo Teresa Herrera in the Summer Tournament 1999. Lazio lost the final 2-0 to Deportivo La Coruna. Player swap with Donato Da Silva.
On their way to final Lazio and Marcolin had beaten Spanish giants Real Madrid in a penalty shootout after drawing 2-2. He had joined Lazio back in 1992 from Cremonese. He would go on to make 70 Serie A appearances for the Romans and scoring twice in the process. Ahead of the Summer tournament, Lazio had a very successful season. The won Coppa Italia and finished as runners-up to Inter in the UEFA Cup.
Dario Marcolin would end up spending very little of the 1998/99 season at Lazio. He did manage to help the club to success in Supercoppa Italia and played in one game for Lazio on their way to winning the Cup Winners’ Cup before heading out on loan to Blackburn in the Premier League. Here his main contribution was scoring in a 2-3 defeat against Manchester United. Blackburn would end up getting relegated, and Marcolin would return to Lazio.
For Italy his personal highlight was representing his country at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Here he appeared alongside players such as Dino Baggio and Demetrio Albertini. Dario Marcolin would go on to play for clubs such as Sampdoria and Napoli before ending his career in 2005. Afterwards he had a career as manager, where he took charge of Monza, Modena, Padova, Catania, and Avellino.
