Denmark won the game 2-1 vs France incl. big stars like Eric Cantona and Jean Pierre Papin, managed by Michel Platini and went on to beat Holland on penalties (2-2 after ordinary and extra time) in the semifinals and Germany 2-0 in the final to make history.

A unwritten fairytale story by Hans Christian Andersen is for sure what we witnessed in 1992 when Denmark against all odds won the European Championship without even having qualified for the tournament.

John Sivebæk started his professional career in 1980 with his hometown club Vejle. He stayed for five years before moving to English giants Manchester United. The Dane spent one year at Old Trafford, where his most notable feat was scoring the first goal under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

He would go on to spend the following five years in France with Saint-Étienne and Monaco. The followed two years with Italian side Pescara before he returned to Denmark to play for boyhood club Vejle and finally AGF.

Sivebæk made his debut for Denmark in 1982 and featured in the 1984 Euros, the 1986 World Cup, and the 1988 Euros. He ended his national team career in 1992 having made 87 appearances for Denmark and scored one goal.

After his playing career Sivebæk became an agent to multiple notable footballers.
