Matchworn Roberto Baggio #10 shirt, shorts and armband from Bologna Serie A 1997/98 season
Bid and win this rare matchworn Roberto Baggio #10 Bologna shirt, shorts and armband from Serie A season 1997/98. Roberto Baggio needed to find a club where he would get playing time in order to be fit and ready for the World Cup 1998. He has suffered badly from injuries since World Cup 1994 and needed a club and season where he could be assured of consistency. He received a promise from the Italy manager that if he was fit he would be selected in the Italy squad for World Cup 1998. In 30 games for Bologna in the 1997/98 season he scored 22 goals. Only Olivier Bierhoff (27) and Ronaldo (25) scored more Serie A goals than Roberto Baggio. But as it turned out he was not selected for the World Cup 1998 which in itself is a sad story of a player loved by the Italian people. However it was to be a very memorable season in the career of Roberto Baggio despite the not so positive outcome missing out on selection for the World Cup 1998.
