Paolo Maldini #3 Italy vs Georgia World Cup Qualifier 09.10.1996

A special Paolo Maldini #3 Italy shirt from a World Cup Qualifier vs Georgia, played at Stadio Renato Curi, Perugia on 09.10.1996. Italy captain Paolo Maldini and Italy won the game 1-0 from a goal scored by Fabrizio Ravanelli shortly before halftime.

Paolo Maldini was an absolute legend and probably the best defender to have ever played the game, having played for only one club in his entire career – AC Milan. He represented AC Milan 647 times scoring 29 goals and Italy 126 times scoring 7 goals.

Paolo Maldini made his Italy debut in 1988 relatively young. That year he was already and integral part of the Italy squad which made the semi-finals at the 1988 Euros in West Germany. By the time Paolo Maldini called quits on his career with the national team, he had accomplished a 2nd place at the 2000 Euros and a 3rd place at the 1994 World Cup.

As mentioned Maldini is also fondly remembered for his career with AC Milan. His father Cesare was also a Milan legend playing more than 400 games for the club.
