Silvio Berlusconi bought Marco van Basten to his newly appointed AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi in 1987. Marco van Basten was somewhat troubled by knee injury and only made 11 appearances in his first season and this is one of the few shirts worn by Marco van Basten in the 1987/88 season! Later in the season in 1988, van Basten was joined by Frank Rijkaard and Ruud Gullit and the rest is history. In Marco van Basten’s first season in 1987/88 AC Milan won the Scudetto for the first time in eight years. The shirt is confirmed worn by van Basten in the early part of the season and is signed.
