In 1970’s Gigi Riva led the Sardinian side Unione Sportiva Cagliari to win their only ever Serie A title. Riva arrived at Cagliari in 1964 and galvanised a team that had spent most of the previous years in Serie B. Examples were Fiorentina goalkeeper Enrico Albertosi and Inter midfielder Angelo Domenghini. These players were very important in clinching the Serie A title and also in the coming years.
