Roberto Baggio came to Juventus from Fiorentina. He would go on to play 141 league games for Juventus and scored 78 goals between 1990-1995.
The 1992/93 season was Baggio’s best in a Juventus shirt. He appeared 27 times for Juventus in the Serie A and scored an impressive 21 goals.
In the league Juventus had to make do with 4th place behind AC Milan, Inter, and Parma. They were close in Coppa Italia, where they were knocked out by rivals Torino in the semi-finals because of the away goal rule.
They did, however, get one trophy during the 1992/93 season. This triumph came in the UEFA Cup. On their road to final, Juventus had beaten sides such as Panathinaikos, Benfica, and PSG. The final consisted of two legs against Borussia Dortmund. Juventus’ success was never in doubt, as they won by 3-1 in Germany before finished the job home in Turin with a 3-0 win.
Roberto Baggio would go on to win the domestic double in 1994/95 before leaving for AC Milan. He later played for Bologna, Inter, and Brescia before retiring in 2004.
