Matchworn Alessandro Costacurta #13 AC Milan Serie A 1989/90

This is a matchworn AC Milan Alessandro Billy Costacurta #13 home shirt from the Serie A season 1989/90. One of the most successful seasons in AC Milan history lifting 3/5 possible trophies; the European Cup, European Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup and finished 2nd in Coppa Italia and Serie A, 2 pts after Diego Maradona‘s Napoli.

Alessandro Costacurta is a genuine AC Milan legend having made 663 appearances for the club across all competitions. This is only bettered by Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini. His success at Milan is also evident by the fact he is the second most successful player in the history of the club – second only to his teammate Maldini. Like Maldini Costacurta spent his entire career on contract at AC Milan with only a loan spell at Monza.

Costacurta made his Serie A debut on October 25, 1987. During that season he would go on to win his first out of six Serie A titles. In addition he also won the European Cup/Champions League five times, the UEFA Super Cup four times, Coppa Italia once, and Supercoppa Italia five times.

During the 1989/90 Serie A, from which this Costacurta match worn AC Milan shirt stems, AC Milan won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup. They had to settle for second place in the Serie A. Diego Maradona’s Napoli secured the title by two points.

For Costacurta the 1989/90 season was the one, where he really staked a claim to his spot on the AC Milan team. He would go on to play for Milan until 2007. During his final season became the oldest goal scorer in the Serie A at the age of 41 years and 25 days.
