Takumi Minamino came to Liverpool from RB Salzburg during January transfer window of the 2019-20 season. During this season he appeared ten times in the Premier League. Thus, he became the third ever Japanese player to win the Premier League.
This enabled him to wear the aforementioned golden patches present on this Takumi Minamino shirt for 2020-21 Premier League season. During this season he appeared alongside players such as Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino.
During the 2020/21 Premier League season, Takumi Minamino managed 19 times in the Premier League for Liverpool. He managed to score his first Premier League goal for Liverpool against Crystal Palace. He would later go on to spend the second half of the season on loan at Southampton, where he scored twice in 10 league games.
He would later return to Liverpool for a final season, where he managed ten goals in 24 games in all competitions. Among these were important goals in the League Cup and the FA Cup – both of which Liverpool won.
